A visual anthology of never-before-seen photos, ephemera, journal entries, and inspired recipes, The Old Original serves up a banquette view of Philadelphia's Old Original Bookbinder's Restaurant and John Morris Taxin, The Nation's Host.

From Sinatra to Nixon, the upper echelon of 20th century celebrities and political power all rubbed elbows against the dark mahogany bar of Bookbinder's Presidents' Room—drawn in by the discreet charisma of a consummate 1950's man who worked his way up from the Philadelphia docks to the center of high society.

A passion project inspired by the journals of Erich's grandfather with images captured by Mark Havens, The Old Original captures the oysters, martinis, and minks of a bygone era and the optimistic spirit of a true original.
